SPIC MACAY Pantnagar Chapter
About Us
SPIC MACAY is a voluntary, non-profit and non-governmental movement started in 1977 to make the Indian youth aware of their cultural heritage. It is now spread over 150 cities in India and 30 cities abroad. It does this noble job through lecture-demonstrations, concerts, music, dance and art in various educational institutions all over the country. In organizing these activities, we have had the kind support of the most eminent artists, who represent the best that Indian Classical music and dance have to offer.
We at SPIC MACAY, Pantnagar Chapter, try to spread the message of cultural awareness by organizing programs of various national and international artists of the likes of Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Mrs. Shobhna Narayan, late Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pt.Vishva Mohan Bhatt, the Wadali Brothers etc, all of whom have performed at Pantnagar with our associaton.Furthermore, we organize at university level various programmes, that, without exception, are well received by the students and general population of Pantnagar.
Dharohar has taken the standards of the three day celebration of Indian culture at Pantnagar to a level that people have seldom seen and which is directly hinting at the glamour and ethnicity of the upcoming event -"DHAROHAR '12". The aim of revival of Indian culture and tradition stands unaltered, but our approach this time will be extended to include all areas of youth interest and infuse it with the Indian ethnic touch .
We at SPICMACAY are determined to take this cultural extravaganza to a newer zenith, but not devoid of promise to be perseverant in our endeavour to promote a new cause adhering to our motto – “Our amount is little but our effort is sincere".
The fest is from 16th to 18th Feb. at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology.
